Background

Basecoat the box with 2 or 3 coats of Gesso. I like to use the gesso because it seems to give the box more body and it works as a nice bright base for the Color Mist.

Cover your work area with a plastic bag. Shake up the Color Mist bottles for one minute. Prime the pump by spraying several times into a paper towel. Hold the bottle upright. Randomly spritz the box with Cape Cod, Pink and Pearl Color Mists. The more you spray the darker the background will be so for a nice cloudy effect leave a lot of the white showing. The colors will bleed together on their own. You may want to stand by with a wadded up paper towel to pat out any drips on the sides of the box. Just dab at it so there isn't a big run in one spot. If you prefer an even softer look you ca dampen the surface with a bit of water first. I like to do a few boxes at a time because this part is so much fun that I can't stop spritzing.

Let the box dry and transfer the pattern except for the facial features.

Important! While your box is drying flush the nozzles of the Color Mist bottle with clean water. This keeps any paint from drying in the nozzle and clogging your sprayer.

Basecoat

Fleshtone -Angel face, hands and feet
White- wings
Cinnamon- halo
Opaque Blue- coat She would be pretty with a pink coat too

Apply Renaissance Foil adhesive to the wings. When the first coat of adhesive is dry, ,add a second coat. By using the two coats I find I have fewer gaps in the foil. When the second coat is tacky, place the mother of pearl foil on the wing area and rub the surface with a credit card or fingernail. Apply a coat of sealer. Following the same procedure, use Gold foil for the halo. I did this in 2 separate steps because I did not want the gold in the wings and vice versa. The angel would also look nice with a mother of pearl halo too, especially if the area behind her head is dark.

Face Float Dark Flesh along the sides of her face and the top of her forehead. Float a second shading of cinnamon along both sides of her face. Transfer the features very lightly. Base the eyes in with white. The iris is opaque blue, the pupil is a dot of black. Place a highlight dot with white at 2 o'clock and another smaller dot at 8 o 'clock. Using your smallest liner outline the eyes with dark flesh, place a line for her eyebrows and nose, and fill in her mouth. Dab a bit of cinnamon on her mouth to redden it up a little.

Hands Float Dark flesh against the blue coat and along the bottom of her hands

Feet Float Dark flesh where the feet meet the dress.

Hair- With your liner make squiggles first with cinnamon, then pigskin. Add yellow squiggles to the hair closer to her face.

Coat Mix a little bit of white into the opaque blue. Float a highlight on the tops of the sleeves and the inside edges of the coat. Shade with Black in the creases of her arms and under the sleeves. Add dots with Gleams Gold

Heritage blue- float on Dress where it touches the coat and on the Wings where they touch the angel's body. Add white dots for buttons on the dress and neckline.
I glued some trim to the edge of the lid on mine.

Varnish with 2 or 3 coats of Delta Satin Varnish
